SELF TEST FUNCTION, AN UNEXPIRED VALID BATTERY AND
HYDROSTATIC RELEASE, AND HAVE CURRENT/ ACCURATE REGISTRATION
WITH NOAA.
3: MF RADIO CAPABLE OF MONITOR, TRANSMIT/ RECEIVE ON FREQ:
2182, 2638,2670KHZ,AND 1710-2850 KHZ.
(MOST SINGLE SIDE BAND RADIOS EXCEED THIS REQUIREMENT)
IN ADDITION TO THE
ABOVE, ALL SMALL PASSENGER VESSELS ARE
REQUIRED TO HAVE THE FOLLOWING:
A: A VALID “STATION
LICENSE”, NOT TO BE EXPIRED. THIS LICENSE
MUST BE ISSUED TO THE
CURRENT OWNER/ OPERATOR OF THE VESSEL BY THE FCC AND IS NOT
TRANSFERABLE. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A CURRENT STATION LICENSE,
A NEW “SAFETY RADIOTELEPHONY CERTIFICATE” OR “BRIDGE TO BRIDGE
RADIOTELEPHONY CERT.”WILL NOT BE ISSUED.
B: A LICENSED RADIO
OPERATOR MUST BE AVAILABLE DURING THE INSPECTION. THE FOLLOWING
GRADES ARE ACCEPTABLE:

E: A “RADIO STATION
LOG” WITH SUMMARIES LISTING “DISTRESS,
URGENT AND SAFETY
TRAFFIC”, VHF COMUNICATIONS, IMPORTANT SERVICE INCIDENTS, POSITION
OF THE VESSEL AT LEAST ONCE A DAY, NAME OF THE OPERATOR, ANY BATTERY
AND EQUIPMENT TESTS, DAILY CONDITION TESTS.
2: BRIDGE TO BRIDGE RADIO TELEPHONY
REQUIREMENTS:
IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE SMALL
PASSENGER VESSEL
REQUIREMENTS:
A: VESSELS GREATER
THAN 20M OR OPERATING BEYOND 100NM
MUST HAVE A VHF RADIO
CAPABLE OF OPERATING (TX/ RX) ON CH: 13 (156.65 MHZ) AND 22A (157.1
MHZ)
B: IF THE VESSEL IS GREATER THAN 100
TONS IT MUST BE FITTED
WITH A RESERVE ENERGY
SOURCE THAT IS INDEPENDENT OF THE VESSELS PROPULSION SYSTEM AND ANY
OTHER ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS AND IMMEDIATLEY READY FOR USE AT ANY TIME.
C: FOR VESSELS ALSO NEEDING A
BRIDGE TO BRIDGE RADIO
CERTIFICATE,
THE VESSEL MUST HAVE A DEDICATED RADIO IN THE WHEEL HOUSE/ PRIMARY
OPERATING AREA, DEDICATED TO THE MASTERS USE THAT CAN TRANSMIT/ AND
RECEIVE ON CHANNELS 13, 22A, AND 67.
3: IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE FCC
REQUIREMENTS:
A: CHECK TO MAKE SURE
ALL ELECTRICAL AND ANTENNA CONNECTIONS ARE CLEAN AND WELL FITTED.
B: POWER SOURCES &
CHARGING UNITS FUNCTION PROPERLY AND BATTERY WATER LEVELS ARE
SATISFATORY.
C: THE ILLUMINATION
LIGHT ON ALL RADIOS WORK, AND THE SPEAKERS FUNCTION PROPERLY AND ARE
AUDIBLE.
